When starting Gaussx, why do I get an error: "Can't find msvcirt.dll" ?
This information applies to Gaussx for Windows, Vsn 3.6
Symptoms
The error message "Unable to locate DLL - the dynamic link library MSVCIRT.dll could not be found in the specified path".
Cause
A number of programs are installing a newer version of MSVCRT40.DLL, which requires MSVCIRT.DLL for support. When such programs are uninstalled, MSVCIRT.DLL is removed, leaving a useless version of MSVCRT40.DLL. This will have an impact on every program which uses the Microsoft Visual Run-Time library, version 4. Typically, this will happen if you have previously installed MS VC++, vsn 4.2, and then subsequently uninstalled it.
Resolution
Microsoft (Q160062) suggests either copying MSVCIRT.DLL from the Msdev\Redist folder of your Microsoft Visuall C++, version 4.2 CD-ROM to your Windows\System folder, or copying MSVCRT40.DLL from the root folder of your Microsoft Office 97 CD-ROM into your Windows\System folder.
